Every human is being a unique individual and basic Ayurvedic principles believe in the concept of three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These three active energy forces govern the functions of our body and mind. Although everyone has all 3 doshas in differing proportions. each individual has difference in health, longevity, strength, Physical appearance, likes and dislikes, behavioral patterns, and emotional qualities depending on the level of each dosha they have. The basic knowledge of the body type helps one to determine the most suitable diet, lifestyle and Ayurvedic Herbs that will ensure health and longevity.
Vata body type
They tend to be non-muscular, thin and active, fluctuation in energy level, they may have low stamina for prolonged activity, restless, enthusiastic, and creative in nature, they may be very good counselors, quick gait, rapid speech, frequently change decisions. The hair may be dark, coarse dry and curly, face long and angular, irregular teeth, thin usually dry lips , small eyes. They may have restless minds, low focus concentration memory and are likely to be artistic. They have light disturbed sleep and many dreams in sleep.
Pitta body type
The individuals are passionate dedicated, can be overly competitive, intolerant, irritable, moderately well-developed physique and a stable gait, have loud, strong voice, very precise, convincing speech. The skin may be pinkish, soft, delicate ,with luster, warm, but tends to sun burn easily if exposed to too much sunlight . Hair usually scanty, fine and soft, fair, reddish / brownish hair but tends to grey soon. Face often heart-shaped with a pointed chin, pointed nose medium sized pink and sensitive lips, average sized eyes with luster, get red in summer or after bathing. They may have irritable, jealous judgmental, aggressive nature, but with good sense of humor. they are talented, learned and proud. Pitta people take strong decisions and fast decisions, they are very good managers or organizers with excellent memory and fast learners.
Kapha body type
Kapha individuals are usually broad, heavier than others, well-developed frame, long limbs, with a pleasant, deep and resonant voice & low, slow, rhythmic speech. skin is usually thick, oily and cold, hair thick dense strong and dark, round face, large nose, attractive eyes, full lips, white and big teeth, they are stable, patient personalities and slow to anger. Loyal, honest spiritual and forgiving, they can be lethargic. Learning may be slow but with strong memory. They have Long hours of deep sleep which come naturally.
Prakruti and Vikruti
When a person comes to Ayurvedic Vaidya unfortunately it is not helpful do deal with the Prakruti but the real problem at present which is Vikruti is more important. How to balance recent imbalance is more important than knowing what your prakriti is.Prakriti is the nature which came by birth, but it has nothing to do with the real problem or vikruti. what is happening now is more important than “Who am I? So, it’s important to focus on Vikruti which is imbalance, Once the vikruti is taken care of the real Prakruti will come up.
